Questions and answers
Getting started
Do I need to create an account?
No. Connecting your Microsoft account is the sign-in. There is no password to invent, no email to verify. Connect the same Microsoft account from any browser and you are back at your settings.
Which Outlook accounts work?
Microsoft 365 work or school accounts and personal Microsoft accounts (Outlook.com, Hotmail, Live). The default calendar of that account is what gets synced.
My organisation says "Need admin approval"
Some companies require an administrator to approve any app that reads calendars. Ask your IT team to grant calendarnexus the Calendars.Read permission; nothing is written to your Outlook calendar.
Which Google accounts work?
Any Google account: Gmail or Google Workspace. The sync creates a calendar called Outlook in that account and owns it.
What it does
Does it sync both ways?
Only if you ask it to. By default it copies Outlook into Google and never writes to Outlook. Once the first sync has run, the home page offers Make sync bi-directional: your Google calendar is then mirrored into Outlook as well, as private events with no reminders, so colleagues see you as busy without seeing why. Microsoft asks you once to allow writing to your calendar. Each direction is a separate copy: nothing you edit in a copy flows back to the original, and your own events are never touched.
Can I turn two-way off again?
Yes, with the link under the button. The copies in Outlook are removed within a minute.
How quickly do changes appear in Google?
In real time, as far as you will notice: calendarnexus polls your Outlook calendar once a minute, around the clock, so anything you change in Outlook is in Google within a minute. Google's own calendar subscription, by comparison, refreshes roughly once a day.
What is copied?
Title, start and end, all-day flag, location, the first lines of the description, and free or busy. See how it works.
Will my attendees get invitations from Google?
No. Attendees are not copied, so Google never sends anyone an invitation or an update.
Can I pick which Outlook calendar, or which Google calendar?
Not yet. It syncs the default calendar of the Outlook account into a calendar named Outlook that it creates in the Google account. You can give that calendar any colour you like in Google Calendar, or hide it.
I added an event to the Outlook calendar in Google and it vanished
That calendar is a mirror: anything that is not in Outlook is removed from it on the next run. Keep your own events in your other Google calendars.
I already subscribe to my Outlook calendar in Google by URL
Once the first sync has finished you can remove that subscription (Settings, the calendar, Remove calendar). It is the slow one.
Something looks wrong
The home page shows the result of the last run, including any error from Microsoft or Google. If an account shows Reconnect, its access expired (for example after a password change): press it and sign in again.
Privacy and payment
What does it store?
The access keys Microsoft and Google issue, a random identifier, a one-way hash of your Microsoft account id, the date you connected and a one-line status of the last run. Never your events, your name or your email address. The privacy policy lists everything.
What happens after 30 days?
Syncing pauses until you subscribe: 70p a month for one-way, £1 a month for two-way. Two-way is included in the free month. Nothing is deleted while you decide.
How do I stop and delete everything?
Press Disconnect and delete my data on the home page. Your record is removed, the Google access is revoked and any subscription is cancelled at once. You can also revoke calendarnexus in your Microsoft and Google account settings.
